“We have to work in those intermediate areas between several orders of disciplines, in which exceptional wealth is often accumulated, like at the border of two different areas.”
Achille Loria The Economic Foundations of Society
Communities, associations, movements, institutions and businesses live through many forms of capital. One of these is narrative capital, a precious resource in many organizations, which becomes essential in times of crisis and in the great changes on which the quality of the present, the possibility of the future, the blessing or curse of the past depend. It is the patrimony - that is, munus / gift of the fathers - made of stories, stories, writings, sometimes poems, songs and myths. It is a real capital because, like all capitals, it generates fruits and future. If the ideals of the organization or community are high and ambitious, as it happens in many ideal driven organizations (IDO), its narrative capital is also great. It is a precious resource during the first difficulties, when telling each other the great episodes of yesterday gives courage to continue to hope, believe and love today.

There are several different protagonists to this story, led by Marco Cabassi who hosted us in the factories belonging to his group, the Bastogi SPA. In front of this backdrop, there was vitality and concreteness, against the nihilism of those who will always say that it is not worth it, a profound ethics and a harmony of kairos, understood as the relationship between external and internal time. We were immersed in a context of the greater EoC. The "C" that stands for Communion. But also for Community. Beyond the definitions, one breathed a living economy that counts and puts the person at the centre and improves the system.

“The history of the Tassano Group could simply be defined as ‘a miracle’”. This is how journalist Roberto Pettinaroli, head of the Levante edition of ‘Il Secolo XIX’ (The 19th Century’), started presenting the group in the splendid setting of the former convent of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Sestri Levante to a room filled by more than 300 people. They were the members and workers of the Group cooperatives, but also many people who crossed its path as workers or beneficiaries of services to the person that the Group has provided in these almost 30 years of activity; and then the institutions with whom the group has been able to create synergies such as to allow the realization of that "light welfare" in Tigullio, invoked by many parties which was really palpable here, with the full satisfaction of the administrators and citizens.

Among the protagonists of EoC StartUp Lab last June in Fontem, in the Cameroonian forest, there were also two of the founding members of AMI (acronym in the local language for "Call to Communion"). They are Malagasy young people who formed to a solid reciprocity with their neighbours, sharing the desire to live this "culture of giving" also through an entrepreneurial initiative.

At the end of September, as the hashtag #Travel, Enjoy, Respect! was being spread by UNWTO, in line with the latest actions with which the United Nations are starting to conclude the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, two wonderful news arrived from Argentina. With a surprising coincidence of time, they tell about and hand out rewards to a great story, an exemplary project showing how tourism can have a unique and strategic contribution in the field of social, economic and environmental sustainability.
